Sharing is caring, right? Especially sharing course materials with a Co-Teacher! Watch the 30 second gif below for how to add your Co-Teacher as an Admin in your Schoology course.
The time has come! We are 4 days away from our 1:1 digital conversion at the high school level and our students are excited! They can't wait to get them in their hands and begin discovering how this technology can transform their educational experiences. Check out the Google Drive transition tips below for students and teachers. Transition Tips for StudentsOur student's "My Drive" is going to fill up very quickly and we can help them in being proactive about how they organize their files. Organization
Guide students through the process of how to share with peers and teachers, specifically for the sharing process you want them to use. Transition Tips for TeachersSharing We are well aware that the most common methods for sharing documents within Google Drive are via link or directly typing in the collaborators email address. With most student rosters greater than 150, I know you want to immediate jump at using the link option however I've noticed sharing by typing in the collaborators email address usually works best for several reasons.
Your responses will provide a spreadsheet where you can just copy and paste the email addresses into the share option of any file. Voilà! Collecting/Turning In Assignments When it comes to collecting work/files from your students, you might also be inclined to share a folder with them or have all 150 students share an individual document with you for you to then organize in your "My Drive". That works but you don't actually need to "keep" that file in your Google Drive, you simply need access to it. So why not have the student share the link to the file with you via a Google Form, and then you can have access to all your classes assignments without cluttering your "My Drive". See the screenshots below. You might want to set up a form for each period. Also, you can go in and add more assignments as the year goes on.
SCPS High School Chromebook Launch is fast approaching!! On September 22nd we will kick off the deployment for grades 9-12 at both Collins and Shelby County High Schools. For details of the deployment nights and more information about the Chromebooks, see the district articles below:
"Chromebook Deployment" Shelby County Public Schools is proud to take the next step toward empowering our students. On the night of the deployment, families will receive a check-off sheet to make sure all stations have been completed. The check-off sheet will include:
Please note: if students plan to use their own device, the student and parent will STILL NEED to attend their deployment night to read and sign a new RUP and view the Digital Citizenship video. - See more at: http://www.shelby.kyschools.us/News/20535#sthash.eoLOxUW6.dpuf "They Have Arrived!!" As an educator, I am convinced that we might value our time more than money (ok, maybe I'm an exception to the rule), but nonetheless, I know we all wish we had more hours in the day! In my opinion, one of the most annoying "time hogs" is email, especially the 15 strain of emails necessary to schedule a 30 minute meeting between 3 people. Seriously? Does it take all of that? Really... No, it doesn't! Not with Outlook's Scheduling Assistant. Scheduling Assistant allows you to view the availability of someone's calendar, keeping the details private. See the two videos below to learn how to schedule a meeting with your colleagues without having to ask them if they are available. NOTE: How effectively this works, depends on the usage of Outlook by all attendees. Trust me it's worth it! :) Using Scheduling Assistant in Mac Outlook AppUsing Scheduling Assistant in Outlook Webmail |
